15. Stuart Hogg: 8
Very solid game from the man at the back. He looked good under the high ball and threatened every time he had the opportunity to attack. Deservedly bagged a try.
14. Sean Maitland: 7
Managed to get on the scoresheet but I’m sure he would have loved to have been given more attacking opportunities. Did well to keep Montero quiet.
13. Mark Bennett: 6
Looked nervous on the big stage and didn’t impress like many know he can. He could have ended with a try and needs to be stuck with as he’s the future.
12. Alex Dunbar: 7
Given less ball than he would normally receive, or like, at 13, but his defence prowess was impressive, keeping Hernandez and Bosch quiet.
11. Tommy Seymour: 8
Grabbed himself a lovely interception and he made good yardage when he received the ball. Off the ball work was also top notch.
10. Finn Russell: 7.5
You wouldn’t have known that this was his first game at Murrayfield. His tactical kicking was superb and he’s not afraid to take the ball in if nothing else is on.
9. Greig Laidlaw: 8.5
Looked a different player to the one that we saw in the Six Nations. Two superb snipes set up tries and he was constantly looking for quick ball.
1. Alasdair Dickinson: 7.5
Very solid in the scrum and set up a nice platform for the backs to work off. Made eight tackles and nine carries.
2. Ross Ford: 7.5
It’s not often I’ll compliment Ford but he had a good day out. His throwing in at the lineout was accurate and he carried and tackled hard.
3. Euan Murray: 7
Gave Marcos Ayerza no respect in the scrum and contributed well with eight tackles. Would have been nice to see him carry though.
4. Richie Gray: 8
The older Gray grabbed a try, disrupted Argentina’s lineout well and got into double figures with his tackling. A good game.
5. Jonny Gray: 8
For Richie, read Jonny. The junior Gray also grabbed a try… disrupted Argentina’s lineout well… and got into double figures with his tackling. Another good game.
6. Rob Harley: 6.5
A good defensive game from Harley but again, it would have been nice to see more with ball in hand. Was harshly given a yellow card.
7. Blair Cowan: 6.5
Didn’t have the game that many expected from him given his London Irish form, but it was still a valiant effort. Interesting to see how he will fare against a better standard of backrow.
8. Adam Ashe: 8
Another player who I’ve seen in a different light thanks to this game. The 21-year-old didn’t shy away from contact at all and made 17 tackles, missing just one.
Replacements: 4.5
Unfortunately, the replacements couldn’t provide the same impact that their predecessors did. The front row got bullied slightly, Big Jim Hamilton got sinbinned within 30 seconds, Henry Prygos came off concussed and I didn’t even realise Sean Lamont was on.
ARGENTINA
15. Joaquin Tuculet: 6.5
Got his hands on the ball often but couldn’t generate a lot for his team. Looked steady under the high ball though and his defence was good.
14. Juan Imhoff: 7.5
Argentina’s best attacking player. Made substantial yards when he received the ball and beat a number of defenders.
13. Marcelo Bosch: 6.5
He carried well but more was expected of him, especially as his opposite number was a debutant.
12. Juan Martin Hernandez: 6
His defence was sound but we are used to seeing more from him in attack. Didn’t impose himself in the game at all.
11. Manuel Montero: 5.5
Needed to go looking for the ball more as he received virtually nothing on the wing. If he had, it could have been a different game.
10. Nicolas Sanchez: 6
Unable to find any spark at all but that wasn’t necessarily his fault. Proved why he is one of the best defensive 10s around with 10 tackles.
9. Martin Landajo: 7
A pretty good game from the nine considering the pressure he found himself under. Sniped a couple of times and got his team going forward.
1. Marcos Ayerza: 6.5
He was solid in the scrum but he couldn’t do enough to push Murray back. Contributed to his team’s cause with some good tackling.
2. Agustin Creevy: 6
The influential hooker couldn’t do a lot after suffering an injury in the 20th minute and having to be replaced.
3. Ramiro Herrera: 5.5
Not the best game for the tighthead. Unable to apply much pressure in the scrums and he had mixed fortunes in the loose.
4. Tomas Lavanini: 5
Both his discipline and tackling were shocking and he didn’t help his team’s cause one bit. Carried a few times but coughed it up more often than not.
5. Juan Cruz Guillemain: 6
An unspectacular game by the debutant who would have benefited from some wiser heads around him.
6. Rodrigo Baez: 6
Came off injured after the 15th minute. Unable to do anything before that.
7. Javier Ortega Desio: 6.5
Flew into the game with a try in the second minute but aside from a handful of tackles, that was all he could contribute.
8. Leonardo Senatore: 6.5
Carried well but again, he needed to do more to help his team out. More was expected of him as one of the more experienced forwards.
Replacements: 7
The front row came on late in the game and looked sharp, especially Nahuel Tetaz Chapparo who was impressive in the loose. Tomas Cubelli ignited his side slightly and grabbed two tries but that was about it.

As you know by now, we are hilarious, and you should be following us on Facebook and Twitter.
Harsh on Bennett, Russell and Harley.
Bennett made one early mistake, but didn’t really get the ball the rest of the game to do anything. Could almost guarantee you’d have given him an extra point if Jonny had offloaded to him instead of taking contact.
Russell and Harley should be at least a half a point higher each, put in great shifts.
I’d also knock 0.5 off of Ashe for his quick line out brain fart. Argentina kick out on the full from inside their own 22, and he takes it quickly on almost our own 22. Harsh? maybe, but in any game, territory is key, and to give away 50+ metres is criminal.
Personally I thought Jonny Gray should’ve been MotM, and whoever made the decision to take the tap on our own 5m line at the end should get dick of the day for the rest of the season! Should’ve hoofed the ball down field, then at least if you lose it there, Argentina have 40+ metres to go to score, instead of 2!
