Got to be Varndell. The Cipriani/Cusiter try is some inspired rugby, but Varndell takes it for a solo effort.
Why has. Varndell not had a look in with england for so long?? Consistent try scorer for years, he must be worth a go before RWC
Whilst I think Cussiter’s try is superb for Cipriani’s vision and the combination they are building, I too would go with Varndell. A sublime finish, and he’s only just come back from injury. No sloppy defence to blame, just some fantastic wing play.
I think the reason Varndell hasn’t had a look in with England is mainly because defensively he is worse than Ashton, and secondly because he doesn’t really fit with Lancaster’s vision of picking younger players with longevity in the set-up. He’s 29, and with players like Wade, Yarde, May and Nowell in the set-up, it’s not likely that guys like Varndell or Strettle are going to get in the team even if they are the on form Premiership wingers.
