Currie Cup 2014 Predictions: Round 6

Check out our predictions for the upcoming round of Currie Cup games

The shock of round five most certainly came from Durban, where the Griquas stunned the Sharks. What’s in store this weekend?

Game of the weekend: Lions vs Western Province

Western Province remain the only unbeaten side in the competition, following their crushing win over the Eastern Province Kings last weekend. They’ve opened up a five point lead at the top of the log, and don’t look like relinquishing it any time soon.

The Lions are one of the sides with a shot at catching the leaders, despite a disappointing loss to the Bulls in round five. They’ll be raring for a win back in front of their home fans to get themselves back on track this weekend.

It all sets up a mouthwatering encounter at Ellis Park this weekend. Western Province have won the last three of the encounters between the two sides, and will bring plenty of confidence into the game – it should be enough to get them across the line this weekend, just. Western Province by 3.
