Who’s voting no for that? Definite ban.

Choking someone out is absolutely not allowed. He begun by trying to roll him out of the ruck, but as soon as he had grip of his neck he has the responsibility to let go, especially when neither were then involved in the ruck at all.

Was Wayne Barnes looking @ the cheese on his shoe?

I can’t for the life of me understand, tho, why the TMO doesn’t/can’t ‘correct’ refs when they err? TMOs have a bird’s eye of the field, so why not use their posi for the game’s benefit?

Suta might get signed by the WWE, altho I’m uncertain about Barnes.

Anyway, I’d ban both Suta & Barnes. Suta for 2 wks & Barnes for a mth, altho maybe I’m being a bit harsh on the former.

There are two shocking things about this. One that he is clearly choking another player, and showing no sign of letting go eve when the player is tapping out.
Two that neither the referee, his assistants or the TMO spotted this at the time. If it was a long way from where the ball was in play you could maybe understand, but it’s in a ruck that the ball is in?!

People are saying this is like something out of the UFC, but even in the UFC it would result in a lengthy ban, because the coward Suta continued choking Strauss after he clearly tried to tap-out. So if it would result in a ban in a sport where the move is actually legal then you have to wonder how he can possibly escape a ban here!

Strauss looked as though he was trying to draw Barnes’ attention to the ‘tackle’, rather than ‘tap out’. Altho attacking the head area is/ought to be illegal full stop, Strauss didn’t look distressed too afterwards. It wasn’t actually as bad as it looked methinks, so a long ban therefore seems an over reaction. Also, as the authorities haven’t taken any retro action, maybe they saw it that way too?

Nevertheless a couple out would likely make Suta think twice nxt time.
