We’ve reached the last round of The Rugby Championship, with Australia versus Argentina at Twickenham, and the Springboks hosting the All Blacks.
South Africa v New Zealand
The Springboks finally rewarded my faith last week with a gritty win over the Wallabies, reverting to type with Morne Steyn kicking most of the points. Will that plan work against the All Blacks this weekend?
No. New Zealand will win this match. Argentina kept them to a winning margin of just (!) 19 points last weekend, and the challenge for the Springboks is to run them closer than that. I think they will, but it will still be fairly comfortable.
My Prediction: NEW ZEALAND to beat South Africa by 16
The average SuperBru pick is NZ by 10.59, and Paddy Power has New Zealand by 12.
Argentina v Australia
Australia seems to be favourites to win at Twickenham, but I’m not so sure. For the Pumas, the opportunity to play at Twickenham and reach new audiences will mean they’ve been focusing on this match, and eyeing up a potential win.
If I were a Wallaby, I’d just want to be at home. Third in the table, there’s nothing to play for, it has been a pretty miserable campaign following the miserable whitewash at home to England, and they won’t have relished the trip to London for a nothing match. I fancy Argentina to sneak it.
My Prediction: ARGENTINA to beat Australia by 2
The average SuperBru pick is Australia by 4.01, and Paddy Power has Australia by 8.
