IMO he’s not as good as he was 2-3 years ago, but he’s still pretty sharp – very quick and a pretty good work-rate and surprisingly elusive. Very surprised he was left out of the original squad with Cuthbert included.

As an England fan who is going to the RWC Wales game I can honestly say it is a sad day for all the fans to lose these 2 superstars from the RWC. Yes there will be banter with my great welsh mate Dave H but the RWC is the loser, to all Welsh fans you have my sympathies to lose 2 certain starters, it is tragic. Still can’t believe Halfpenny started, I thought he would have been wrapped in cotton wool until the England game.

Spot on it’s a loss for the sport, if we look past rivalries like northern v southern etc during a world cup we get eye’s on, maybe not as much as with other sports but it attracts new viewers. Watching great players do their thing is a great asset for attracting the next generation of would-be greats. Halfpenny as you put it the “pint sized Welshman” is just 1 example that it’s not just size that counts. Growing up I was quite short/skinny and always told it wouldn’t be a good sport for me cos I wasted big enough, when we see players who break the mould such as Halfpenny being the small guy who’ll throw himself into things (as we saw in the 6n game against Italy) it’s a huge bonus.

You’re not unfortunately, 4 months is pretty much the minimum. Croft did his ACL almost immediately after coming back from a broken neck which meant he missed the vast majority of two seasons on the bounce.
Genuinely feel for the pint sized Welshman, and all the fans (not just the Welsh) who will miss out on a top player plying his trade where he belongs at the pinnacle of the sport.
Hopefully Webb’s is less serious.

Update on Halfpenny over on the wru fb, acl injury rules out for world cup (looked it up average 4-6month recovery time – hope my google is wrong on that tho)

Why should Gatland change his blinkered backline and back row selection now just b 4 the RWC?????

Its not as if the best scrum half and the best goal-kicker have both become unavailable for the tournament is it???

Mediocrity awaits Wales at RWC 2015.
