Vern Cotter has named the Scotland squad for the upcoming Six Nations. Uncapped props Zander Fagerson and Rory Sutherland, of Glasgow and Edinburgh respectively, are named in the group, while there is also a return from exile for flanker and Scarlets captain John Barclay.

Chris Fusaro is another to return in the back-row, while Duncan Taylor benefits from Saracens’ fine form with a call-up in the midfield.

Cotter said: “We’ve selected a mixture of experience with some exciting young players coming through, some of whom have experienced the Rugby World Cup and are eager to move forward, take the RBS 6 Nations head on and show that we can develop our game and be competitive.

“I think there should be confidence. The guys have worked hard and improved. There are positive signs that we can compete, and this Championship will give us another opportunity to measure ourselves against very good opposition in a tough competition.

“The guys believe that we can compete, dominate and secure victories in these games.”

  1. Nice to see Duncan Taylor back in the Scotland squad. He’s been in great form for Sarries this season, and could definitely do a job for the Scots. Stick him outside Matt Scott and I reckon you’d have a very solid but creative midfield!!

  2. Only one real full back is interesting. Would have Jackson at 10 over Weir. Has had some good games for wasps.

  3. The cup industry has taken a severe blow at this announcement and England, Italy, Wales Ireland and France cancel their orders do to Ryan Wilson’s being dropped, still he can spend his time plum picking during his suspension.
