Way too lightwight to continually force ourselves over the gainline.

SL has made some horrendous calls this WC, dating back to Hartley and ending with a dreadfully stunted center partnership against Wales.

However, who other center options are there?

Burrell – in hindsight I would have yes, but he has always looked nothing more than average at test level.
Twelvetrees – contact error machine despite having a nice skill set.
Eastmond – just no. Nice feet but distribution is pretty poor, he offers little gainline threat down the 12 channel at test level,
Tuilagi – injured/banned

There is then a bunch of top young players like Sam Hill, Stephenson, Devoto that look good but aren’t even necessarily first choice at clubs yet, so very raw.

Whilst Barritt is about as useless as they come in attack, Burgess just can not start this fixture, his positioning is just too poor.

I think I mentioned elsewhere that Burrell might have been ideal for this fixture.

I feel so disillusioned with this team and this world cup.

We really need Barritt or Burgess there as they are our two 12s. Shame on me possibly, but I think Barritt is probably our best answer to start and bring Burgess on as an impact sub. Burgess is the better player in most ways but I worry about his positioning, and the Aussies could exploit that. Is Greenwood fit? Maybe that wasn’t such a bad idea!
