  1. If we’d won and/or Lacey had had a better game, it’d have been a 10. Breathtaking stuff. Didn’t look like the 3rd best team in the world against the 9th best. High hopes for Wales vs. Arg.

  2. Aussie commentator’s remark about Will Skelton’s shoulder barge on Johnny Gray a disgrace!
Quote: “It doesn’t look good!!!!” at about the 68 minute mark.
Your telling me MATE. It’s just illegal.
Aussie commentator’s time and time again come up short. Unlike like most British pundits (ex-players included) who are media and Beeb trained our erstwhile colleagues from down under fail to totally CONDEMN violent illegal play!
We’re talking 100% condemnation here not a mealy-mouthed 75% fudge with wiggle room!
Too often the response goes something like this…”Not an attractive sight on a rugger pitch
but on another day he may have got away with it…” or “Not great mate, but it’s rugby”
Yes and it’s someone’s unprotected head too! I’d just call it ILLEGAL and DANGEROUS!
Too often the immediate response by Aussie commentators is to go into damage limitation and cover up mode (i’d say its almost an automatic and unconscious thing)!
Let me be the first to say it on here!
Who on here remembers Ronan O’Gara on the Lions Tour down under royally getting the bejezus kicked out of him? I think he had the record for the most matchday stitches. About thirty if i remember rightly!
Very little happened to the offending Aussie on that occasion (its there on utube for all to see). The punches recieved whilst lying on the ground almost equalled the number of his stitches afterwards!! That’s saying something!
Over here meanwhile Chris Ashton ‘bites’ another’s arm (it being questionable whether ANY harm is done – more of a slurp or a suck really to taste the man’s arm-hair and he gets a 6 month ban effectively calling time on an international career.
All that in a CLUB game!
The above examples should highlight the GULF/CHASM that still exists between northern and southern hemisphere, official as well as unofficial, attitudes to applying the letter of the law with regard to foul play and keeping to the law’s spirit in word and deed.

  3. The Aussie pundit’ s exact words at 68mins and eighteen seconds are:

“Look its one of those one’s and you can’t do something like that out in the open. It’s probably unnecessary!”

Excuse me but what ‘one’s’ are you talking about?
Ah, you probably mean the ILLEGAL ones!
So then to summarise for the aussie pundit…..Despite being ILLEGAL and dangerous it would have been better if a few more bodies had been standing around obscuring the incident to block the eye of the ref and the view of the camera! COZ THEN IT WOULDN’T HAVE BEEN SO IN THE “OPEN”.
    Lastly the incident was….and i quote….”probably unnecessary!”
You’re bloody right it was unnecessary MATE and bloody ILLEGAL to boot!

  4. Cracking match, best one of the weekend for the neutrals. I actually thought Horwill was a pretty good commentator, sure at one point he gave away the Wallabies pagebook for the set play off the back of the scrum before it happened! Tough game for the Scots, but with just an ever so slightly tighter defence and they’d have won it; also, John Barclay, where did that come from! Australia looked good all round bar Issy F’ throw and hopes, but maybe left some points on the field…lots to ponder for the AUSvIRE match.

  5. Not entirely sure how Scotland contrived to lose that being up both in points and numbers with just 10 mins to play.

Cracking game from both sides though.

I do hope that this isn’t just another in Scotland’s long line of matches where they look good in defeat but flatter to deceive!

If not and they keep this kind of form up and Ireland and England do as well, then next year’s 6 Nations should be great
