European Challenge Cup 2016/17: Quarter-Final Predictions

European Rugby

Here are my predictions for the quarter-finals of the Challenge Cup group matches, where teams might start taking the competitions seriously.

Edinburgh v La Rochelle
The French side is riding high in the Top 14, but will likely keep the league as a priority, and we know never to pick a French side to win away from home. Edinburgh by 6

Bath v Brive
As above, Brive are not going to win in the West Country and Bath should have more than enough to make it to the semis. Bath by 23

Gloucester v Cardiff
I suspect both teams will be quite keen to win this competition, and this could be a reasonable match. Let’s go with home advantage having not seen the lineups. Gloucester by 6

Ospreys v Stade Francais
It’s hard to know what state the minds of the Stade players will be in, given news of their merger with Racing Metro. Winning away in a nothing competition is unlikely to be top of the priority list. Ospreys by 18.

Are there any you disagree with?

        1. If they removed the carrot ,the contest wold collapse for want of competitors. What have you got against the idea anyhow?
