June Internationals 2017: Round 2 Predictions

Finn Russell

Last weekend’s picks weren’t bad, but the Springboks were better than expected in their first outing this year, and I should probably back them this week.

Tonga v Wales
It’s a young Welsh side, and it will be interesting to see how Sam Davies goes at fly-half. Should be a straightforward Welsh win. Wales by 13.

New Zealand v Samoa
The All Blacks get a game ahead of the Lions Test series starting next weekend, and for all the ‘markers’ that the Lions are trying to put down, this will be a bigger one. New Zealand by 48.

Fiji v Italy
This is quite tricky to pick. I’m going with the home team, on the basis that the run out last weekend will have done Fiji good. Fiji by 7.

Australia v Scotland
The bookies are giving the Wallabies a 14-point handicap! I can’t see them being that much better than Scotland, and actually I fancy an upset in this one. Aussies are the safer pick, but I’m going with Scotland. Scotland by 2.

Japan v Ireland
This should be easy enough for the visitors. Ireland by 23

South Africa v France
It was a comfortable win the Boks last weekend, and I won’t be picking against them this time. South Africa by 7.

Argentina v England
A great match last weekend, won by England with a last-gasp try. Can they do it again? I actually fancy the home side to even up the series. Argentina by 2.

A few tough ones here! Good luck.

  1. Would love to see the Scots turn the Aussies over!

Do you know what the weather is meant to be doing? If it’s raining that it’s odds on Scots in my opinion

    1. The way Scotland play now leans itself to dry conditions as a Scottish fan I am hoping for typical sunny Aussie weather.

      1. Yes it does, but it also lends itself to the Aussie playing style and that tips the odds in their favour as they are both at home and more used to playing like that.

Pissing it down however, and its definitely with the Scots

  2. The Scots will get thrashed like there 9 though better than that plod Laidlaw and if Farrells not fit we will need there 10 should have gone anyway

    1. Was this typed on your second or third bottle of spirits, have you never heard of grammar or punctuation?

If you are implying that Finn Russell should’ve toured with The Lions then you are so far wide of the mark its untrue, he’s an ok player but chokes when the pressure is on, The All Blacks would eat him as a snack, he’s not even good enough to satisfy for breakfast.

  3. Should be a big Ireland win on paper but when you consider it will be 2 pm kick off in really hot conditions it could be trickier than people expect. Imo if Ireland are ahead at half time they should win and win well.

  4. Hi Hutch. I love your predictions.
    I had a tenner on Ireland…check.
    A tenner on S. Africa….check
A tenner on England…check. The logic being they were over any jet lag, been together another week and a couple of key player back.
A tenner on Canada…WTF!!!! What was I thinking FFS!!!!!
Anyway keep up the good work!!!!
