We’re running a predictor league over on SuperBru for the World Cup (as you’ve probably gathered by now), so every week before each round, we’ll be posting our predictions so you can have a look and take us on if you think you know better.
There’s also a charity challenge league, featuring several legends of the game as well as well-respected journos from across the country. Every week we’ll include a few of their picks, as well, so you can pit yourselves against them.
This week joining Hosie and Hutch are ex-All Black fly-half Andrew Mehrtens, the Times’ rugby correspondent Alex Lowe and former England hardman Peter Winterbottom. Whose picks do you like best?

Can’t believe none of yee went for Italy over France!!
Tonga! – Apathy! – France! – only italy! – first up match – Italy like whirling dervishes!!! we’ve been here before! French will probably only start playing in the last ten minutes when the fat bastards come out.
I wouldn’t be surprised

“Pacific not Aran!”
I haven’t studiously studied the teams, but can’t see any huge shocks. Georgia over Tonga is the only one I’d expect to be particuarly close and/or in the balance.
I’d say England, France, Samoa and the All Blacks will be looking for 20 point wins with 4 tries thrown in there. Wales, South Africa and Ireland should be looking upwards of 40.
