  1. Hopefully AWJ’s injury is not that serious.

No citing for player responsible for that of course, despite the blatant attempt to injure AWJ after he had passed the ball.

Eli Walker missing out to Cuthbert-what a joke…..Cuthbert was even getting stick from his Blues fans last season and blaming everyone other than himself.

Welsh Backline crying out for something creative and Cementhead does his usual…..

‘I’ll have the big one….the fast, elusive and creative one can get stuffed.’

But he is able to find a place for Corey Allen (another Blues star that took his team to 10th in league last year just above the Italian sides?)

Naturally Tips on the bench for England and OZ when he is needed on the field.

Gatland has all the creativity and guile of a tub of lard.

Will he even have the sense to play Liam Williams at full back and move Halfpenny to the wing???

He’ll probably go back to original original original selection and pick Halfpenny at 15 when never ever counter-attacks???

Never thought I’d be rooting for Donkey Liam but he does offer so much more over the 80mins.
There again Tips offers masses and even after Gatland’s admission that Saturday was Tips bset ever game in a Welsh shirt he still cannot get a starting place.

    Madness sheer madness.

  2. I find Enochs comments quite funny, we have a 31man selection. Yes it states Warburton will captain but does not say he wont play Tips alongside in the starting 15 etc.

We can guess he’ll play halfpenny at fullback as usual, but again its a guess – and halfpenny does Counter-attack he just does so when the opportunity is ideal and avoids gambling with it. His strong assets are his kick & catch (outside of penalties) he is one of few who can actually begin running before he is landing to break oncoming tackles. Most seem to catch and get caught out, so Halfpenny offers a huge amount of value. If you watched the Ireland game you’d have also noticed him doing more work on the Wing and North doing more in defense too.

AWJ injury will rule him out for first game but should be back for England – we don’t really need AWJ in the Uruguay game.

Despite all your comments this is a v.strong team, I’m very glad Amos made the cut for Wing (not a huge Cuthbert fan but he has his moments) I think Amos will become a huge player for wales in the future.

Looking at his selection it’s fairly obvious (atleast to me) that he has picked based on the ability to play multiple ways whilst keeping his stock strategy solid. That makes sense since we know what to expect in the group but beyond that we will need the variety.

    • He has only ever picked Tips and SW once in the same team. Wales v England Cardiff 2013, say no more. As Stuart Barnes said Wales have never played as well since that day.

Cementhead, has to date, never changed his selection policy. He has his favourites and never ever accepts that he is wrong on this. (Cuthbert, P+sshand…. OMG they are just utter cr+p)

He refuses to accept what he sees b 4 him such Saturday for example.

He admitted through gritted teeth that it was Tips’ best game in a Wales shirt, that Tips had responded to the coach’s demand to do the ‘dirty’ work as well as the flash stuff in open field and then said that Tips was tired in the dressing room in Dublin

‘like Sam always is at the end of every game Sam plays for Wales’.

Even when Tips made tackle after tackle, won turnover after turnover and scored the only Welsh try Cementhead has to praise SW when talking about the guy most Welsh fans want to see at No7.

Tips was everywhere and I mean everywhere. He was far more visible than SW ever is at 7 and Cementhead’s only comment afterwards was essentially ……………..

‘Well I’ve got a really good 2nd choice No.7 but he won’t ever get his chance coz my SW plays 7 for Wales so there’

Anything Cementhead said in the press conference about Tips and his unique qualities needs to be taken with a pillar of salt the size of Lot’s wife as per the Old Testament!

Sorry Tips, you are warming the bench whilst Cementhead as ever goes for the ‘Chosen One’, the ‘Special One’, ‘Injury Prone One’ at 7 and the lumbering tackler at 6

England and Oz will be the ones laughing their socks off.

Must agree. Gatland has his favourites and always seems very reluctant to stray from those. The back row is a prime example. Welsh fans have been calling for Tips at 7 for eons but Gatland true to form keeps Lydiate at 6 and Warbs at 7. Likewise Priestland and Cuthbert, it’s no wonder Wales lack the real depth of Ireland & England when Gatland keeps picking the same old guys.

  4. Think you have to trust Gatland & the training team on who plays when & where , lets face it , SW,Tips, DL & James King will all be used at some stage during such a congested turnaround timetable. I think the training team who have been living & working with the guys 24/7 for the past 3 months would know better than anybody posting on here what players have been performing during training etc!!. Sorry Enoch but I get the feeling that such is your dislike for Gats that even if Wales were to win the tournament ( yeh, unlikely I know ) you would still slate him ! .He always said to judge the team on this WC so he has more to lose than anyone.

  5. Have I read that right…only 2 hookers?

Now with Aus it was tactical and they are training a prop to hook/ throw. Gats seems to have been forced into this by AWJ’s injury and decided to take 5 locks.

Question: what happens if one of the 2 hookers gets suspended (not injured) leaving Wales unable to call up a replacement? I honestly don’t know. I know you have to have a minimum number of fit props, not sure on the hooker situation.
