France announces team to play England in World Cup warm-up

Philippe Saint-André has announced the France team to take on England at Twickenham this weekend, in a repeat of the stunning 55-35 result that brought the curtain down on the Six Nations earlier this year.

Dimitri Szarzewski, who missed out on the Six Nations squad entirely, captains the side from hooker, alongside a strong prop pairing of Nicolas Mas and Vincent Debaty. Behind them the grunt is provided by Yoann Maestri and Alexandre Flanquart, while the ballast of Louis Picamoles at eight is complemented by the speed across the ground of Yannick Nyanga and Fulgence Ouedraogo.

Morgan Parra and François Trinh-Duc rekindle the half-back partnership that almost won France a World Cup in 2011, while in the centres there is plenty of brawn in the shape of Alexandre Dumoulin and Rémi Lamerat. Scott Spedding continues at fullback, while diminutive duo Brice Dulin and Sofiane Guitone are on the flanks.

    • It is not far from first choice pack, but not exactly.
In fact it depends what you mean.
looking for a physical pack, Papé and Dusautoir (or Leroux) are missing.
Looking for a more mobile pack, Ben arous only is missing.
So PSA is clearly trying something less static than usual on that game.
Hope it won’t lack power too much .
