Rugby Championship 2014: South Africa team to play Australia

saruHeyneke Meyer has made three changes to the South Africa side that lost in Australia for this weekend’s return fixture in Cape Town.

Tebo Mohoje is named in the back row in the absence of François Louw, who misses out with injury, and will make his first start. Ruan Pienaar is another injury-enforced absentee, with François Hougaard taking his place at scrum-half. The final change is positional, with Marcel Coetzee moving to the number six shirt to accommodate Mohoje.

“Injuries forced our hand with Francois and Ruan Pienaar not available, but Hougie and Oupa have been part of the squad for the entire season and I’ve got the utmost confidence in them making the step up,” said Springbok coach Heyneke Meyer.

“Francois brings different strengths to the team at number nine and has an opportunity to demonstrate the contribution he can make on Saturday, while Oupa is more of a traditional blindside flanker who will get another opportunity to show what he can do in his breakthrough season. He has really come on in leaps and bounds this season and responded to the goals set for him.”

  1. Possibly a weak link but has the ability To contribute in a big way if he refrains from kicking to much and shows us previous flair and form, here’s hoping they take it to the Aussies from the opening whistle, which is why Bismark should be starting.
