Joe Schmidt has announced the 32 man Ireland squad that will tour South Africa this summer.
There are a number of surprise omissions, most notably experience winger/fullback Simon Zebo, who seems to have lost the battle to return to fitness after his recent surgery.
Exciting midfield pair Stuart McCloskey and Garry Ringrose – the former of whom won his first cap in the Six Nations – are also absent, with Ulster pair Luke Marshall and Stuart Olding selected ahead of them.
Ian Madigan – bound for Bordeaux next season – is another high profile omission, Paddy Jackson selected as the second fly-half option in his stead.
Connacht lock Quin Roux and Ulster back-rower Sean Reidy are the only uncapped players in the squad. Roux, meanwhile, is one of three South African ex-pats – as well as CJ Stander and Richardt Strauss – that are returning to their country of birth.

As you know by now, we are hilarious, and you should be following us on Facebook and Twitter.
Zebo is injured so i get that but why on earth would you leave out McCloskey who played a very good cameo against England and looked like a great pairing with Henshaw. Especially considering that Payne will be the Fullback cover and Olding and Marshall don’t offer anywhere near as much
Olding is essentially covering the Madigan role, he covers Fly Half,Centre,Fullback but i’d imagine he will be used more as a centre rather than a Fly Half or Fullback. Marshal can cover 12 and 13 which explains his selection, he has been the unsung hero for Ulster this season and was considered the 24th man in the Irish squad and of course he has a decent amount of International experience for his age.
